Description

The Assistant Director - Fleet Operations & Real Property is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the Vehicle Operations and the Real Property divisions in the General Services department. This position reports to the Director of General Services. The Assistant Director oversees the management of the county's 1,400 vehicle fleet operations, including all vehicle acquisitions, sale & disposal of vehicles, the transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Alternatively Fueled Vehicles (AFVs), implementation of the county EV Policy and EV charging infrastructure requirements, and vehicle maintenance & repair. In addition, the Assistant Director oversees the management of real property services including negotiations for leases, acquisitions, property management, and disposition of Class I & II property for the County of Santa Barbara. This executive management position contributes to the formulation and administration of County policy associated with each function and provides senior level leadership to the department. Activities include, but are not limited to, leading, planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and managing personnel, as well as budget formulation and funding strategies. In addition, the Assistant Director is a member of the Department's Executive Team and is integral in the implementation of department and countywide strategic initiatives.
