The Assistant Director coordinates with SU faculty to provide course oversight, maintenance, and development, teacher in-service training, field support, and administration associated with a large concurrent enrollment program and its secondary school partners. The ideal candidate values and is skilled at relationship building, demonstrates initiative, and enjoys being part of a team.
This position requires a comprehensive understanding of Syracuse University policy and procedures and regular communication with HS administrators, counselors, teachers, students, and parents to ensure adherence to academic standards at partner schools while providing administrative leadership in support of a diverse student population. The Assistant Director is responsible for fostering relationships with SU faculty to facilitate their involvement with Project Advance and assist them in planning and conducting annual new teacher trainings, professional development workshops, and school visits. This position also meets with partner schools as necessary, and represents and promotes the program at the regional and national level at conferences, stakeholder events, etc.
Qualifications
* Master's or doctoral degree required.
* Five (5+) plus years of experience as a secondary or higher education administrator, or comparable practitioner experience in a related profession.
* Knowledge of concurrent or dual enrollment programs preferred.
* Background in computer science, mathematics, or information studies highly desirable but not required.

Responsibilities
Program Administration and Course Oversight:
* Effectively administer assigned course areas by regularly communicating with and providing support for SUPA partner schools and stakeholders, including school administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, students, and parents.
* Ensure that University and departmental academic standards are understood and maintained at partner schools.
* Resolve any concerns or policy conflicts that may arise with HS personnel, parents, and students.
* Conduct in-person administrative visits at partner schools for partnership support and program maintenance, to assist with new faculty visitor onboarding, etc.
* Be familiar with and adhere to FERPA requirements and SU policies and remain current with concurrent (dual) enrollment best practices.
* Develop, nurture, and sustain working relationships with SU faculty to facilitate their involvement in SUPA and to support their engagement with instructors and students at partner schools in the interests of program continuity, academic excellence, and student success.
* Work with SU schools/colleges, academic departments, and faculty to identify and develop new course offerings, onboard new faculty liaisons and school visitors, and assist with curricular updates or resource needs, as appropriate.
* Provide support for Syracuse University faculty for their academic oversight of their course areas, including, but not limited to, coordinating with faculty on planning, implementing, and facilitating the annual teacher professional development and Summer Institute workshops for SUPA instructors and helping organize/coordinate faculty school visits.
* Represent SUPA at regional fall information sessions, school parent nights, conferences, advisory board meetings, etc., and participate in NACEP (National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships).
* Promote awareness of the program to prospective school partners.
* Domestically/internationally and assist with onboarding new school partners.
* Other position-related duties as assigned.
