Summary of Position The Assistant Director of Nursing/Faculty at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) plays a pivotal role in advancing the program by managing clinical placements, coordinating with clinical agencies, and ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. The salary range for this position is $82,317 to $98,780 commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 180 contract days within an academic year. Salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked. This is a full-time, 11-month, FLSA exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. The Assistant Director of Nursing/Faculty works collaboratively with the Director of the Nursing Program and directs the clinical placements for clinical nursing courses. This position works with the clinical agencies with whom RRCC has clinical contracts and negotiates contracts with agency educators about learning lengths of time, clinical scholar requirements, date ranges, and clinical student requirements prior to coming to the site. The Assistant Director of Nursing/Faculty works with the director and faculty to recruiti, interview and hire suitable clinical instructors who meet the requirements of ACEN and Colorado State Board of Nursing for teaching clinical nursing. This position requires use of a Clinical Platform for most clinical requests, and mandates compliance with the platform for both students and instructors. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing Education program for visioning, planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing program outcomes. The position assists the Director with national accreditation and meeting the regulatory requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing. Additionally, this position will explore new potential clinical sites in collaboration with faculty and the Director of Nursing Program to meet student learning outcomes. The position will serve as the primary point of contact for the clinical sites. As a faculty member, instructional duties and related activities will be performed in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Red Rocks Community College Community College and the policies of the Colorado Community College System. RRCC faculty members are responsible for teaching and this position has additional administrative responsibilities and is contracted for an additional work hours in the summer for administrative clinical coordination duties. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions. Additional program chair responsibilities may be added which include, but may not be limited to: Ensuring and documenting the Nursing Education Program's compliance with the Nurse and Nurse Aide Practice Act, the Board's Rules and Regulations, and all other state or federal regulations. Providing a current written job description to the Board for all Faculty positions. Developing and maintaining the relationship between the Nursing Education Program and the Governing Body, including but not limited to acting as liaison with other programs within the Governing Body and with other Nursing Education Programs. Demonstrating leadership within the Faculty for the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and other Nursing Education Program components. Participating in the budget planning process for and administering the Nursing Education Program budget. Recruiting and selecting Faculty for employment, designing and monitoring development plans for Faculty, conducting performance reviews of Faculty, and participating in Faculty promotion and retention. Developing and coordinating the use of educational facilities and clinical resources. Identifying and advocating for services needed by students in the Nursing Education Program. Acting as liaison with the Board. Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships within the community, including fostering the Nursing Education Program's responsiveness to community/employer needs Participating in activities that facilitate the DNEP's professional expertise in the areas of administration, teaching and maintenance of nursing competence Determining the need for additional faculty release time for administrative duties. Qualifications REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent organizational and time management skills. Excellent computer skills include managing an electronic database, email, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Ability to effectively communicate as appropriate to meet the needs of the audience. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to be flexible with negotiation of student, coordinator, and class schedules for placement. Ability to process multiple sources of data and information. Required Qualifications Master's degree in nursing from a national nursing accredited institution Two years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience. Nursing practice expertise in any of the following areas: Medical/Surgical nursing, Obstetrical, Pediatric or Mental Health nursing. Experience teaching and/or training others. An active, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado or ability to obtain by the date of hire. Qualify for a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential including 4,000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the past five years. **Current teachers applying to teach RRCC campus-based, online, or concurrent enrollment CTE courses may include non-teaching occupational hours that are older than the 5-year requirement if they have the required degree (and license/certifications as listed) and a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in the discipline/program or 6 years part-time teaching experience in the discipline/program. Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom and/ or laboratory equipment up to 50 lbs. Clinical assignments may require the ability to lift and/or move patients. This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office and/or classroom environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
