Position TitleAssistant Director of Admission - CommunicationsJob ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Director for Communication, reporting directly to the Director of Admission, will oversee day-to-day communications, as well as large mailing projects throughout the academic year, for both domestic and international recruitment. The Assistant Director for Communication will supervise the counselor deliver team and will serve as a member of the Admission Leadership team charged with knowledge of best practices specific to drip campaigns, communication and print pieces for all prospective students, their family members and the community at large. Communication and Marketing
- Manage comprehensive communication plan for Office of Admission
- Create and maintain communication calendar for Office of Admission between print, digital, email, text, ad-hoc, recurring, and campaign communications
- Lead digital communicator and collaborator on print publications for the Office of Admission, including copywriting and copyediting
- Assist in brand oversight for communication in the Office of Admission
- Collaborate with faculty, Publications, Public Relations, Marketing, Mail Services, and Printing services to ensure appropriate information is presented and submitted in a timely manner
- Coordinate direct mail and print publications, including bid process for the printing and mailing of publications with approval from Director of Admission and Associate Director of Marketing
- Maintain inventory of marketing items in Admission Office, provide monthly updates, process material requests and reorder as necessary
- Maintain documentation of mailing and processing procedures for future reference
- Serve as co-lead on texting platform
- Train and manage communication team members on applicable processes
Office Leadership
- Work with office in leading comprehensive efforts to effectively process application and scholarship materials, including needed publications and mailings, while meeting the needs of incoming and current students
- Develop creative solutions to staffing and processes related to changing needs or direction
- Serve as resource to admission staff members and the greater University community in representing Truman State University
- Create a supportive, enthusiastic, professional and efficient work environment
- Lead regular meetings with communications team to manage workload, monitor project progress, and assign new projects
- Research and report on admission communication trends and best practices
Professional Development
- Participate in online seminars regarding relevant professional issues to keep current with application or mail processing changes and/or opportunities to enhance our operation, which may include researching different vendors
- Attend professional conferences off-campus, as requested and as schedule permits
- Member of Missouri ACAC
Special Projects and Other Duties
- Assist with campus tours and visits (as needed)
- Assist with territory travel and event coverage (as needed)
- Actively provide and participate in departmental or university trainings
- Provide support in answering office phones, responding to questions, and following-up request

- bachelor's degree
- significant evidence of transferable technical skills
- exceptional communication skills (written and oral) and a strong commitment to customer service
- ability to work in a collaborative environment within the Admission Office and the University as demonstrated by previous project management and/or group work
- a record of success independently completing assigned projects with limited direct supervision as well as the ability to take direction from office leadership
- ability to travel and to assume a work schedule that can include evenings and weekends
- ability to lift/carry items ranging up to 40 pounds in weight
- valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- knowledge of and/or experience working with emerging print technologies, admission recruitment communication systems and/or database management software.
