Job Description Summary: The Assistant Director of Adult Psychiatric Practices (ADAPP) assists the Director of Adult Outpatient Services in planning, implementing, operating, and evaluating the Center's clinical services consistent with the Center and Program processes and policies. Clinical Services shall include, but not be limited to, Advance Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, LPN's, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and other clinical staff necessary to provide the behavioral health care needs of the individual and family. The Assistant Director guides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. The Assistant Director will demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. They will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. The Assistant Director of Adult Outpatient Services reports to the Director of Adult Outpatient Services. Education:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of progressive clinical leadership in practice management desired.
  • At least 1 year experience with crisis intervention in community and/or clinical settings is preferred.
Work Experiences:
  • At least 2 years of experience in the treatment of individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision of all clinical and adjunct staff in the care and treatment of current or prospective clients of Adult Outpatient Services. Personnel management may be conducted through administrative meetings, regular discipline specific staff meetings, individual supervision or consultation, staff in-services or trainings in consultation with the Director of Adult Outpatient Services.
  • Coordinate training new and current staff in providing evidence based, trauma-informed, quality care. Will provide on-going support and evaluation current and new staff in clinical and professional standards of care.
  • Report to the Director on trends in their field, on significant accomplishments, and on emerging problems with personnel, patients, facilities, and/or other resources.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes through regular review of staff performance on quality initiatives such as documentation standards, treatment planning, accreditation standards, compliance with billing practices and all local, state, and federal guidelines in collaboration with Director. Will report all unusual incidents and staff responses to Director.
  • Ensure the continued use of detailed operational procedures governing the Adult Outpatient Program, including but not limited to the Department of Mental Health-Mental Health Program and Core Rule certification standards, CARF accreditation standards, and Center and Program processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director to ensure financial performance, provider productivity, staffing, cost containment measures and operational efficiency targets are achieved, and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Promote healthy communication with community stakeholders, intra and interdepartmental relationships, and provides and promotes staff development, directly supervising therapy, nurse support, and APN staff.
  • Perform specific administrative tasks as determined by the Director.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
  • Normal office environment.
  • Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Requires ability to remain calm during stressful events, to occasionally work irregular hours, and work with exasperated individuals.
  • Occasional lifting to 50 pounds
  • Occasional travel required
