The major focus of this position will be to enhance the student experience for students in the University of Findlay's Animal Science (ANSC) programs.TASK DESCRIPTIONThis position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.1. Develop and implement programs to increase retention and on-time progression of ANSC students in collaboration with the Oiler Success Center.2. Advise first year ANSC students from New Student Registration through registration for the fall of their sophomore year unless determined otherwise.3. Teach ANSC 110 First Year Experience for Animal Science Majors4. Ensure Animal Science student compliance with University Policies and the University of Findlay Student Rights & Responsibilities.5. Maintain Animal Science student records with regard to tracking professional and graduate school acceptance, success, and industry employment rates.6. Utilize approved Student Affairs software (e.g. Starfish) to maintain and respond to early alert records for animal science students.7. Serve as staff liaison to the Oiler Success Center, Academic Support Center, and Office of Accommodation and Inclusion.8. Select, train, and supervise student peer mentors for ANSC FYE courses.9. Provide additional support to advisers by providing within- department student coaching and support in collaboration with the Director of Academic Advising through the Oiler Success Center.10. Screen and connect students at high-risk for attrition to appropriate campus resources (e.g. tutoring, counseling, Title IX, Office of Accommodation and Inclusion).11. Provide and facilitate Animal Science-specific mentoring and career planning services working collaboratively with the Center for Career and Professional Development.12. Develop and maintain a database of usage data and relevant information that can support assessment of the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.13. Prepare an Annual Report of activities and submit it to the Chair of Animal Science, the Dean of the College of Sciences and the Associate Vice President for Student Success.14. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some weekend or evening hours may be required.TravelTravel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected. A valid US Drivers' license with a safe driving record is required.Required Education and Experience1. Master's Degree required.2. One to three years of higher education experience preferably in academic advising, student services or student retention.Preferred Education and Experience1. One-year teaching experience or experience in curriculum design.2.
