Job Description:

The Assistant Finance Director plays a key role in supporting the Finance Director in overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Assistant Finance Director collaborates with various departments to ensure accurate financial information, compliance with regulations, and effective financial planning. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong financial acumen and leadership skills.Financial Planning and Analysis:

* Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring financial strategies and plans.

* Collaborate with the Finance Director in budgeting and forecasting processes.

* Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights for strategic decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

* Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

* Generate and be able to present regular financial reports for management, Council and external stakeholders.

* Assist in the preparation of annual reports and audit documentation.

Compliance and Risk Management:

* Stay informed about relevant financial regulations and ensure compliance.

* Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls.

* Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies.

Financial Systems and Processes:

* Contribute to the improvement of financial systems and processes.

* Implement best practices for financial efficiency and effectiveness.

* Work with IT and other relevant departments to optimize financial software applications.

Team Collaboration:

* Collaborate with the Comptroller and finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations.

* Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Ad Hoc Projects:

* Undertake special projects as assigned by the Finance Director.

* Provide financial analysis and recommendations for strategic initiatives.

Ability to move about an office or building and sit for long periods of time.MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CPFO).

* Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and budgeting.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.

* Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.

* Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team.
