Through personalized counseling, workshops, networking opportunities, and access to relevant tools and information, we strive to foster confidence, resilience, and success in every stage of career development.The Assistant Director of Industry Engagement and Events reports directly to the Senior Director for the Center for Career Development and works collaboratively with other members of the Center to lead industry engagement efforts, events, communications for on and off campus recruitment as well as support for educational events including university-wide engagement initiatives to increase experiential opportunities. The Assistant Director will be responsible for cultivating and developing new relationships and institutional partnerships and strengthening existing ones. This is a highly visible position requiring interaction (in person, on the phone, and via email) with a wide range of university colleagues, employers, vendors, students, and alumni. The ideal candidate should have experience in a fast-paced, data-driven, and creative environment, along with the exceptional interpersonal skills required to navigate a complex educational enterprise.   • Under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director for the Center for Career Development, the Assistant Director will develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan that drives engagement with industry employers, partners/recruiters and alumni in coordination with a wide range of university colleagues, employers, vendors, students, and alumni to build engagement with industry employers and drive student opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate new external and internal relationships with key stakeholder employers, recruit new employers, professional organizations, student clubs and faculty; act as initial point of contact for employers & students, guide through online registration process; manage communication concerning employer engagement initiatives.
  • Provide critical support for university-wide engagement initiatives to increase experiential opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Center to lead industry engagement efforts, events, communications for on and off campus recruitment.
  • Manage application software, updates and develop periodic user trainings for employers and students; track student applications providing guidance and consistent follow up.
  • Review, prescreen, and approve employment/internship and job postings daily to ensure students have timely access to apply to positions.
  • Plan campus recruitment activities including interviews, info sessions, tabling, career fairs, and portfolio reviews supporting diverse student and alumni populations from the seven schools of the university; Oversee training/event expenditures, tracking spending as needed.
  • Develop metrics to monitor effectiveness of programs and forecast annual budget needs/allocation; utilize metrics to inform departmental strategic plan.
  • Lead event marketing team weekly meetings and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Design flyers and strategize social media use and technology to promote opportunities and events for engaging students, employers and parents.
  • Create or oversee the creation of biweekly newsletter and update event website.
  • Develop and provide online and in person-trainings and materials for students to support resume development, interview prep; conduct personalized one on one sessions to provide feedback, updates and or address any urgent student concerns.
  • Supervise student worker, if required; hire and train student worker; delegate tasks and monitor student worker's work progress; oversee timesheet collection and submission for student worker staff.
  • Additional related responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years' related experience in a higher education setting, event planning, career services, employer relations or higher education
  • Superior, demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage effectively multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Self-starter with an ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and nimble team environment.
  • Prior experience using Canva to create event flyers and/or promotional asset.
  • Strong technical skills and an ability to navigate and utilize software databases and systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detai.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media platforms.
  • Some nights and weekends required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of Career Management systems strongly desired.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Experience in career advising.
  • Knowledge of Constant Contact, SurveyMonkey, Canva, Adobe InDesign or Illustrator.
  • Master's degree preferred.
WORK MODEHybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-HYBRIDSALARY RANGE$70,000 - $78,000 annuallyWe look forward to receiving your application!
