Job purposeReporting to the Director, the Assistant Director will support the Director of the department by managing the operational work. The incumbent serves as acting Director in the Director's absence.
Duties and responsibilitiesThe Assistant Director works with considerable latitude for independent decision-making. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Identify and act on opportunities to upgrade and improve on software and systems
- Manage and maintain network equipment and infrastructure and oversee all cybersecurity measures including but not limited to: running risk assessment, testing data processing systems and designing firewalls.
- Together with the quality team generate reports on clinical metrics for medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use disorder providers.
- Run operational reports for senior staff and provide training and direction to IT staff
- Together with the Director, supports Cisco telephony related technology and acts as the subject matter expert on specific telephony technologies.
- Design training programs and workshops for staff
- Oversee daily operations of helpdesk and delegate tasks to IT technicians and Handle high level tickets
- Manage and maintain Meraki/Unifi network equipment and infrastructure and oversee all cybersecurity measures including but not limited to: running risk assessment, testing data processing systems and designing firewalls.
- Assist with the development, planning and deployment of major projects
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of the IT budget
- Identify problematic areas and implement solutions
- Develop streamlined workflows and automation to increase efficiency
- Collaborate with other departments to work towards streamlining and modernizing the health center
- Analyze IT workflows and make recommendations for improvements
- Design and implement new network and software solutions to improve the current environment
- Research and recommend new products
- Expand knowledge of current systems to become a SME in those areas
- Expand knowledge on and research new healthcare technology
- Expand vendor base and maintain relationships
- Manage grant related acquisitions and inventory
- Oversee the cybersecurity program at the Center and direct the work of the cybersecurity specialist including all functions of email security, vulnerability management, incident response, DLP, and the implementation of various global cyber security objectives into the FHCHC environment.
- This position requires on call response when needed
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent (A+, Net+, Security+, MCP certifications). At least five years of increasingly responsible job experience, preferably in the health field, and oral and written proficiency in English required.Expertise in PC hardware and related concepts; Microsoft client operating systems including Windows 7, 8, 10; email concepts and client software, including Microsoft Outlook; MS Office and other various Windows applications; file sharing and printing, workgroup vs. domain-based networks, backup software; Active Directory, Office 365 and networking concepts and devices, routers, switches, cabling, esp. pertaining to small and mid-size business environments.Familiarity with combating various malware issues and with mobile devices, iOS and Android and demonstrated analytical problem solving skills, is highly desirable.
