Assistant Director of Recreation - Intramural Sports and Facility Operations
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director of Recreation, Intramural Sports, and Facility Operations is responsible for the administration, development, and implementation of the college's intramural sports program, the fitness center, and managing payroll for the department. The individual will collaborate with the Wellness Center to proactively address the holistic health of the college community, ensuring a well-rounded approach to student wellness. This role also supports administrative and payroll functions, ensuring smooth operations within the Athletics and Recreation department.
The Assistant Director will be expected to:
* Develop and oversee the administration of all intramural sports programs, including scheduling, staffing, and promotion of participation across campus.
* Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and scheduling of athletic facilities, ensuring safety and readiness for practices, games, and events.
* Supervise facility staff, coordinate event logistics, and manage equipment and inventory to support athletic programs.
* Develop and distribute all policies and procedures related to the operation of the Wingate Fitness Center and Nat Holman Gymnasium and its programs.
* Plan and direct all internal and external marketing and advertising programs for intramurals, recreation, and fitness programs in conjunction with the Department's media relations personnel.
* Monitor participation statistics for the Wingate Fitness center and Nat Holman Gymnasium and its programs, including preparation and submission of monthly statistical reports.
* Hire, train, and supervise fitness center staff, including student employees, ensuring the center's safe and efficient operation.
* Coordinate and collaborate with the Wellness Center to address student wellness through joint programs that focus on physical, mental, and emotional health.
* Maintain accurate payroll records and provide regular reports to the Director of Athletics.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations, manage facility budgets, and collaborate with campus departments on facility-related projects and improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field.
* Four years of related experience in college recreation or athletics administration, including staff supervision, intramural sports management, and payroll management.
* Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
* Proficient in the use of technology, including student information systems, project management software, and data analytics tools.
* Experience working with large, underserved populations

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$64,649-$75,465. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
