The Philanthropic Recognition Programs team has an exciting opening for an Assistant Director of Stewardship Programs. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Philanthropic Recognition Programs team fosters greater giving by helping deepen the relationships between the University of Washington and its community of supporters by leading University Advancement's efforts in demonstrating appreciation for our donors and recognizing their impact.

The Assistant Director of Stewardship Programs increases philanthropic support for the University of Washington by managing critical stewardship operations and initiatives. This role supports the creation and implementation of customized stewardship plans and drives enhanced stewardship programming across broad donor constituencies and types of giving. The Assistant Director collaborates with both central Advancement partners and schools and colleges across the University.

What You Will Do:

Stewardship Operations (40%)

* Provide operational support, project management and coordination on key stewardship operations, such as customizing gift receipts, sending pledge acknowledgements and reminders, and stewarding tribute gifts.

* Develop tracking systems and support periodic audits to ensure all stewardship activities are carried out in a timely manner and appropriately documented.

* Partner with the University Advancement teams and stakeholders to establish guidelines and tools, such as templates, guides, best practices and web resources for gift announcements.

* Continuously seek opportunities to systematize stewardship practices across the UW and facilitate internal communications to ensure stewardship programs are understood by Advancement staff.

* Act as a stewardship subject matter expert to advise colleagues on projects, communications and programs.

* Proactively identify opportunities to improve the donor experience at the UW.

Strategic Stewardship Planning (35%)

* Work closely with Principal Giving fundraisers to create personalized, actionable stewardship plans for key prospects.

* Use the CRM and other project management tools to create sustainable systems for implementing stewardship plans for major donors.

* Maintain a record of past stewardship projects and initiatives to share across Advancement as best practices.

Institutional Impact Reporting (20%)

* Partner with University Marketing and Communications to create broad-based University-wide impact reporting for all donors.

* Facilitate annual impact reporting of the University's endowed professorships, chairs and deanships.

Other duties as assigned (5%)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit donor relations or related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

* Ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities and handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.

* Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and achieve comprehensive team goals; ability to accurately forecast and develop both short- and long-term goals.

* Knowledge of fundraising or nonprofit databases.

* Knowledge of alumni relations, development, advancement and/or higher education principles.

* Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally for event setup and tear down.
