East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects & Research! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
As the Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects & Research you will need to think creatively and be comfortable serving as a primary liaison to increase the number of research and grants for the ESU campus community. You will be an active member of the Academic Affairs team and will work closely with the Director to obtain extramural funding through grant-related consultation and proposals. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your educational administration background and collaborating with diverse stakeholder's experience all while using your professional knowledge of federal, state and private funding laws/compliance to pioneer a robust research community. To be successful in this role the applicant must be deadline driven, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and have a strong working knowledge of compiling budgets and reports.
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects & Research. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
* Execute post-award grant administration to ensure responsible project administration and compliance with University policies and procedures, federal and/or state regulations and laws, agency requirements, and contractual obligations.
* Maintain current knowledge of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminate and/or present changes to departments; and advise on the implementation of changes and on the impact of changes on funded operations.
* Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff in post-award matters including, but not limited to, budget modifications, amendments, subcontracts, renewals, extension requests, cost-sharing/matching, spending plans, purchasing, hiring, and compliance with University policies and procedures, federal and/or state regulations and laws, agency requirements, and contractual obligations.
* Manage day-to-day online content for the OSPR; Lead the implementation of the university's first grants software system, all writing for the OSPR, event planning for the office, and serve as project lead for the annual report booklet.
* Assist in coordinating aspects of the grant proposal and submission, which may include interacting with faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders.
* Review grant-related expenditure documents (i.e. check and purchase requisitions, travel expenses) to ensure compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations and University policies.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with sponsor agency contacts and interact with sponsor agencies when needed.
* Work with the Director and faculty to strategize student engagement in research and sponsored projects.
* Support with proposal development and budget preparation in accordance with sponsor guidelines and University requirements.
* Work closely with the Grant and Compliance Accountant, and faculty, on budget development and oversight.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
* Minimum bachelor's degree plus 2 years' experience with federal grants. Master's degree preferred.
* Comprehensive understanding and experience working with the proposal development process.
* Thorough working knowledge of the Pre and post awards for grants and sponsored projects.
* Able to effectively connect with stake holders.
* Exposure to grant audits, contract renewal, and negotiations.
* Experience in establishing guidelines for policy and procedures.
* Demonstrates expertise in using federal, state, and private funding agency online submission platforms.
* Experience in creating and monitoring project budgets.
* Capability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
* Ability to solve problems, initiate and implement resolutions.
* Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
* Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
