DescriptionAssistant EngineerDiamond Plastics Corporation is one of today's leading PVC pipe producers in North America and one of the largest producers in the world with products for both water and sewer applications through 60 inches in diameter.. Diamond Plastics has seven manufacturing facilities located strategically across the United States and celebrates its 35th year in operation in December of 2017. They are well recognized as one of, if not the finest, manufacturers and suppliers of high quality PVC pipes with superior customer service. Diamond Plastics Corporation has an immediate opening for a Assistant Engineer position. This position is responsible for assisting with inquiries regarding the proper design and installation of PVC pipe. This includes representing Diamond Plastics at ASTM, AWWA, CSA and ASCE in support of the proper specification and use of PVC pipe. It will include interfacing with various third party certification agencies such as UL, FM, CSA, NSF and others to maintain certifications for Diamond Plastics pressure pipe products. This position will provide support for the promotion of Diamond Plastic's PVC pipe. Core Essential Functions include the following:
  • Represent Diamond Plastics at ASTM, AWWA, CSA, the Hydrostatic Stress Board and the PVC Pipe Association. This involves serving on committees to develop and shepherd standards and informational documents for the proper use of PVC and alternative types pipe material.
  • Field numerous calls from Diamonds sales staff as well as engineers and contractors regarding proper design and installation.
  • Travel in the support of educating consulting as well as municipal engineering and inspection staff. The ultimate goal of which is to open specifications for the use of PVC pipe.
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field. Conduct presentations to legislative and other groups within our organization.
  • Write articles regarding proper use and specification of PVC for inclusion into conferences such as ASCE, AWWA and others.
  • Research and prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance, budgets, government standards/rulings, and other program services.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills to interface with customers and company staff on a daily basis.
  • Moderate Travel required.
