Job Description:
MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) is a fast-growing profitable multi-service infrastructure consulting firm offering planning, construction management, civil engineering, and surveying services throughout California. With nine offices throughout California, the Company has provided services to the transportation, water resources, government services, and federal markets for over 60 years. We are well positioned in the marketplace, and on a trajectory to continue our geographic services expansion. Position is remote, with occasional travel required (see travel time section below). Candidates must reside in California and preferred within the greater Central Coast region due to current geography of Government Services clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Will work with design engineer to create solutions to various engineering needs of municipal clients.
  • Will draft construction plans and coordinate plan submittals conforming to client and company standards.
  • Will draft project specifications in coordination with design plans and engineering calculations.
  • Will prepare construction cost estimates and will be familiar with construction cost pricing resources to prepare accurate estimates reflecting current and local construction markets.
  • Will coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to create a complete product package meeting project and client goals.
  • Reviews RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, materials testing and various contractor reports to confirm compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards while under the direction and supervision of a licensed engineer.
  • Reviews and/or drafts Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Storm Water Control Plans (SWCP), Erosion & Sediment Control Plans (E&SCP), and stormwater reports for compliance with municipal codes, ordinances, and state permit requirements.
  • Drafts Capital Improvement Project (CIP) staff reports, contracts, amendments, memorandums and other documents required for the proper permitting, designing, bidding, and awarding of CIP projects following various municipality procedures.
RequirementsMinimum Education, Licensure, or Certification
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or industry related field
  • Preferably EIT, or will agree to attain EIT within 1 year of employment
  • Will agree to become a Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP)/Qualified Stormwater Designer (QSD) within 2 years of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.
Minimum Experience
  • 3-5 years design or construction experience in municipal work (public or private)
Other Required Skills
  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with municipal processes for Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient with Word and Excel applications as well as Adobe PDF and/or Blubeam applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized and structured to follow company templates and procedures and track multiple tasks at varying stages of project development.
Travel Time
  • Estimated 15% requirement to travel. May be needed to attend in field meetings such as site visits for project reconnaissance of the site for photos and field measurements and design conditions. May be needed to attend design review meetings or design RFI field meetings.
