Reference #: 496edb0f-11fe-4903-916f-135a4520d735DescriptionGAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Environmental Specialist to join our talented and energetic Pennsylvania Water team in either our Homestead, Cranberry, or Southpointe, PA office. An ideal candidate has environmental planning, sampling, design, and permitting experience in the water/wastewater market for municipal and/or industrial clients. This position will provide excellent opportunities to grow technical and project management knowledge, skills, and abilities for today's water and infrastructure-focused environment.Job Duties:Assist in water and wastewater projects for municipal and industrial clients.Work on multi-discipline teams to complete water and wastewater planning, evaluation, design, and construction projects related to collection, conveyance, and distribution systems, stream and wetland improvements, storage and treatment facilities, and asset upgrade/rehabilitation.Field work will include water sampling, site inspection, and construction administration support including completing field observation reports.Assist with Civil/Process Engineering design projects including schematic/preliminary design, design development, final design, specifications, permitting, bid-phase services, and construction contract document production.Participates in technical studies, data evaluation, QA/QC, review of applicable regulations, and preparation technical reports and client deliverables.The successful candidate must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including written, oral, and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work and interface well in a collaborative and detail-oriented project team environment.Adhere to safety and quality procedures of GAI and our clients.Limited travel is anticipated to other GAI and client offices, meet with clients, and attend project-specific meetings.General CharacteristicsShows progress in acquiring basic skills; follows procedures; learns record keeping protocols general topographic and arial photograph reading experience, learns technical literature basics, available for frequent travel andfieldwork.Minimum Years of Experience1 to 2 Years of Experience or graduated with a Masters Degree in Environmental Sciences or a similar field of study.EducationBachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences orsimilar field of studyTechnical ResponsibilitiesIntroduction to ecological field data collection, wetland delineations, basic regulatory agency applications, gains knowledge of regulatory requirements, and other duties asrequired; receives technical training for career enhancementProject and Task ManagementResponsible for personal task management and adherence todeadlines and scope.Management ResponsibilityClose supervision on all work assignments.No managerial responsibilities atthis level.Communication SkillsPossesses basic oral and written communication skills.
