The Assistant Farm Manager directs the machine operators and farm laborers regarding the harvesting and daily farm related activities. The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of labor, materials, and machines. Manages policy deployment in the areas of lean harvesting techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and performance measures. Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand. Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. Balances work cell capacity/loading across the farm. Determines operations head count needs and ensures compliance with company policies. Research equipment for future company needs for capital investments and improvement projects. Manages compliance with state and federal regulations. Oversees operational proficiency of farming equipment in use for harvesting, mowing, spraying, and fertilizing for production and training. Supervisory Responsibility This position manages all sod, soil and seed employees of the location and is responsible for leadership of the employees within its department. Work Environment This job operates in exposure to direct sunlight and weather 90% of the time. This employee will operate equipment daily including but not limited to tractors, harvesters, forklifts, spraying and spreading equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This employee requires full range of motion of arms and legs and requires constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Farm Manger; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., evening and weekend hours will be necessary to accommodate operational needs. - Convicted of three or more speeding violations or serious moving violations; moving violations include texting or cell phone violations.
- Been involved in two or more chargeable accidents.
