SUMMARY:
Lawrence Technological University, an NAIA Institution and member of the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference and the Mid-States Football Association is accepting applications for an Assistant Football Coach. Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Football Coach supports the mission of the college by assisting all aspects of the College's football program, developing and executing effective coaching strategies, recruiting talented student-athletes and retaining them, assisting with team practices and games, and fostering a positive team culture. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
JOB DUTIES:
? Assist the Offensive Coordinator with scheme development and implementation.
? Coach the QBs and/or the WRs.
? Recruiting Coordinator responsible for overseeing all aspects of recruiting.
? Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes.
? Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting all workouts, meetings, and practices.
? Organize game preparation, including film breakdown and development of game plans and scouting reports.
? Ensure all coaching assignments are carried out during daily workouts, practices, and competitions to maximize athletic performance.
? Assist in the management of the football budget and equipment.
? Assist in the coordination of annual summer camps, recruitment trips, and on-campus recruitment events
? Communicate and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure student-athlete
? Monitor academic progress of the team and individual student-athletes.
? Mentor student athletes through academic and athletic challenges.
? Participate in fundraising events.
? Other duties assigned by the Head Coach, Coordinators, or Athletic Department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversight of part-time, graduate assistants, and volunteer coaches. Must have exemplary ethical conduct and a commitment to follow all applicable NAIA and Mid-States Conference rules and regulations. Must follow all athletic and football staff policies and procedures. Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative effort to maintain the mission, vision, and objectives of the athletics department.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree is required. Minimum of three years coaching experience in the collegiate setting and/or at a highly respected high school program. Experience with Special Teams and Video preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work non-traditional hours, including late night and weekends. Knowledge and skill to evaluate and assess student-athlete's skills and abilities. Enthusiasm and willingness to develop, initiate, and actively recruit, retain, and develop studentathletes. Commitment to work and educate inclusively with a diverse student population. Sound administrative and supervisory skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to type and use computer programs such as word processing (MS Office Suite preferred), e-mail, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn other programs pertinent to the position. Must be organized and be able to prioritize work, good communication skills, both written and oral, ability to deal with people from various age groups, backgrounds and level of education.
COMMENTS:
Hours may vary depending upon work assignment. This position requires the employee to perform some responsibilities off campus. While acting as a representative of Lawrence Technological University, it is important that the employee be knowledgeable and professional. Communication skills (both oral and written), organizational skills, and the ability to handle changing priorities are essential for success in this position. This position may require working evenings and some weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) especially during peak times of campus activity. Vacation time may not be approved during said peak activity.
