QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification Required:
* Valid teaching certificate appropriate for level and assignment. (Teaching Fields: ELA, Social Studies, SPED)
* CPR/First Aid/AED
* CDL License (If not secured by start date, must be obtained within 6 months)
* Must be willing to coach 2 sports (Tennis and Golf are considered 2 sports)
Technology Proficiency: Level 2 Applied

Experience:
* Preference will be given for experience as a middle school coach.
FUNCTION:
To help develop an athletic program under the leadership of the principal, the director of athletics and the athletic coordinator/head coach of the high school. To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self esteem. To provide students an opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sports, and the principle of fair play.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
* Encourages players to achieve academic success.
* Manages the total athletic program for the middle school.
* Is responsible for teaching the basic fundamentals, terminology and drills of the assigned sport as required by the High School to which they feed.
* Arranges for ticket sellers/workers at all contests where admission is charged.
* Answers directly to the campus principal and high school athletic coordinator/high school sport head coach who that middle school is a direct feeder. Also, answers to the Office of Athletics.
* Responsible for handling problems and conduct of each coach on their campus.
* Under the direction and leadership of the respective high school athletic coordinator, it is the responsibility of the middle school head coach to offer cooperation and assistance, in every way possible.
* Compiles statements of needs (equipment, supplies and maintenance) along with a detailed inventory to insure the securing of essential supplies and equipment for program operation during the year.
* Shall have meetings with campus principal to keep them abreast of information.

* Assists the principal, high school athletic coordinator and director of athletics in preparing and maintaining athletic policies and procedures as per CCISD and UIL.
* Shall have a monthly meeting with coaching staff.
* Encourages athletes to participate in the total program and helps them to develop pride and to excel in the sport and/or sports of their choice.
* Is responsible for assisting the principal/high school athletic coordinator and the office for athletics in the assignment and evaluation of coaches within their staff.
* Is responsible for attending meetings at the office of athletics as necessary to implement UIL/CCISD rules and regulations.
* Assumes responsibility for the general management and safety of athletic field, dressing rooms and gymnasiums.
* Is responsible for assuring that all coaches on staff turn in proper paper work in a timely fashion.
* Cooperates with community agencies and press. Notifies news media promptly after events and give accurate information on outcome of games/meets.
* Is responsible for maintaining good working relationships with parents, boosters, athletes, teachers and staff.
* Attends meetings with the high school athletic coordinator to stay current on direct feeder and program information.
* Assumes responsibility for the well being of all athletes under their supervision, and cooperates with the athletic trainer and/or doctor in treatment of athletic injuries.
* Is responsible for implementing and scheduling a daily practice plan for in-season and off-season pertinent to sport programs.
* Is appropriately dressed at practices and games.
* Is responsible for overseeing the end of season athletic banquet.
* Is responsible to oversee the approval of players to be scheduled in the athletic periods and be responsible for recommending the transfer of student(s) out of the athletic program.
* Is responsible for the behavior of athletes and coaches during practice and game situations. Assures that coaches and players use no physical abuse, verbal abuse or inappropriate language.
* Assumes full responsibility as charged by the director of athletics, hs athletic coordinator and middle school principal and subjects to their direction for developing and directing football at the middle school.
* Assists in developing and directing a comprehensive program of athletics at the secondary level.
* Serves as a cooperative and loyal member of the coaching staff and provides leadership to every part of the athletic program as well as to the total school program.
* Is responsible for administering policies in relation to athletic awards. Submits list of names of athletes recommended for athletic awards.
* Responsible for handling problems and conduct of each coach in their program.
* Under the direction and leadership of the respective high school football coach, it is the responsibility of the middle school head coach to offer cooperation and assistance, in every way possible.
* Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of expenditures and budget balance.

* Supports and complies with Board Policy, Administrative Regulations and Directives.
* Submits and completes required athletic reports on time to athletic coordinator and office of athletics.
* Is responsible for maintaining all paperwork regarding the athletes (physical, parent permission forms, steroid signed forms and insurance record) which must be in order before athlete can participate in practice etc. (Must carry to all games, meets/tournaments - parent authorization forms and insurance claim forms for medical attention of athletes in case of emergency.)
* Attends meetings with the high school head football coach to stay current on football, skills, drills, strategies, etc.
* Prepares and keeps current a detailed inventory of all equipment, fixtures and properties of the program. Retrieve equipment from athletes.
* Maintain a good professional relationship with coaches from other schools.
* Is responsible for making sure all bus requisitions are inputted properly filled out with accurate information, submitted at the beginning of the season.
* Demonstrates leadership techniques essential in developing athletes with the values of competitive athletics, acceptable personal behavior, and team commitment.
* Assumes the responsibility for training of coaches within their program at the middle school level. This responsibility shall include the teaching of formations, terminology, basic drills, scouting procedures and organization of practice schedule.
* Helps assume responsibility for the general management and safety of athletic fields, dressing rooms and gymnasiums.
* Is responsible for developing a well-coached team that can compete favorably with teams scheduled.
* Assumes responsibility for technical coaching of the team.
* Is responsible for making sure students are engaged in learning during the athletic period.
* Responsible for continued growth in the number of athletes in the program.
* Is responsible for representing the school and school district in a professional manner by attending faculty/coaches meetings. Staff development workshops; parent conferences, community/school functions, and dressing appropriately for work.
* Demonstrates loyalty to the administration and supports its policies and decisions.
* Establishes rapport with players without compromising team discipline or disrupting the lines of authority that are essential for an effective player/coach relationship.
* Encourages players to participate in every sport in which they have interest and ability.
* Has the ability to perform under game conditions. Demonstrates poise, decisiveness and the ability to utilize personnel wisely.
* Develops and utilizes a well organized practice schedule that allows maximum team and individual instruction opportunities.
* Displays enthusiasm and initiative in execution of job responsibilities.
* Consistently enforces individual and team discipline as outlined in athletic code.
* Communicates concerns and/or problems that arise concerning all aspects of athletic program in keeping with the chain of command. Works to provide input for possible solutions and/or improvements to athletic program.
* Is responsible for attending all in-service training programs required by the school district. Is punctual and attentive during in-service training meetings.
* Assumes responsibility for implementation of Athletic Participation Policy which states that all athletes shall be given an opportunity to participate in game situations and that no one will be eliminated from the squad. Only in the sports of volleyball and basketball can athletes be cut.
* Be willing to spend extra time in meeting with principal, athletic coordinator, or athletic director to insure proper preparation for coaching assignment. (This may require some weekend or normal vacation-time work)
* Be responsible for encouraging athletes to perform well in academic areas.
* Help oversee coaches to perform well in academic assignment area and realize that coaches are vital parts of the school faculty and have the same responsibility as any other teacher in their assigned academic area.
* Accept criticism that is designed to bring about positive performance.
* Exhibit mature behavior during and after contest regardless of outcome.
* Performs other duties as assigned by the principal, high school athletic coordinator and/or Office of Athletics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: All coaches on respective campus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate district functions and maintain emotional control under stress.
* Frequent district and statewide travel; occasional Continual walking and standing; moderate lifting and carrying; stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Works outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather) and inside.
