Job DetailsJob Location1220 The Wharf Marina - Washington, D.C., DCPosition TypeFull TimeSalary Range$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 SalaryDescriptionThe Assistant General Manager is responsible for day-to-day management of the marina. Reporting to the General Manager and working alongside other teammates, they will accomplish maintaining the highest level of customer service. The purpose of this role is to ensure all staff are in place and trained to provide each customer with the appropriate service and correct attitude. This role will support Oasis Marinas in operating the marina in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws by adhering to all Oasis policies and procedures. A successful Assistant General Manager will be a strong and ethical leader, a natural relationship builder, have a self-starter mentality, and the ability to manage contracts and sales.Responsibilities:
- Daily reconciliation and deposits; Monthly invoicing for slip payments/charges.
- Manage operations and expenses in accordance with Final Approved Budget.
- Ensure the duties of the General Manager are covered on their day off.
- Regularly review and update the marina's emergency procedures.
- Ensure that all staff are trained in emergency procedures.
- Follow with insurance, management, customers, and law enforcement as needed in the aftermath of an emergency.
- Hiring of staff to appropriate levels and with salaries in keeping with the budget.
- Preparation of schedule, minimizing the need for overtime.
- Bi-Weekly submission of payroll, overtime approval as needed.
- Sales of new leases with the target of 100% occupancy of the slips dedicated as available for annual lease.
- Ensuring each slip holder's file is maintained, containing a signed contract and insurance.
- Provide renewals to customers.
- Ensure transient reservations, arrivals, departures, and stays are well managed and meet customer expectations.
- Operate the marina consistent with and maintain the marina's standing as Clean Marina.
- Coordinate with Oasis on marketing efforts.
- Keep Oasis marketing up to date on upcoming events in the area.
- Coordinate with ownership as needed on events within the development, particularly those that may impact slip holder experience.
- Ensure that the marina is well maintained.
- Address safety, security, and liability concerns as soon as possible, including lighting issues, gate & camera failures, trip hazards, & fire hazards.
About You:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, supplemented by 1 year of supervisory experience in the maritime or hospitality industry.
- Skill in the operation and/or maintenance of marina equipment.
- Ability to operate the marina in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Skill in utilizing financial forecasts and industry trends, initiating specials, promotions, or other proactive marketing.
- Ability to participate and manage the sales, leasing, and contract management for all revenue streams including but not limited to dockage, storage, retail, and service.
- Ability to monitor and track accounts receivable and create collection plans.
- Skill in preparing annual operating budget.
- Skill in maintaining financial forecasts and making operational adjustments to deliver profitability.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
