Assistant Golf Professional - Tamarack Country Club, Greenwich, CTOverview:Tamarack Country Club, a premier private club located in Greenwich, Connecticut, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Golf Professional. The club boasts a championship-level course, offering members an unparalleled golfing experience, and is renowned for its rich history, recent renovations, and commitment to excellence in both golf and member services.The Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for supporting the Head Golf Professional and other staff in delivering first-class service to members and their guests. The role includes teaching, tournament operations, managing the golf shop, and maintaining the overall quality of the golfing experience at Tamarack.Key Responsibilities: Member and Guest Services:â ¢ Provide exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all members and guests.â ¢ Ensure members' golf experience exceeds expectations from the moment they arrive at the club until their departure.â ¢ Assist with member relations, offering recommendations and resolving any issues related to the golfing experience.Instruction and Player Development:â ¢ Provide private and group instruction to members of all skill levels, focusing on player development through innovative teaching techniques and technologies.â ¢ Assist in the growth and development of the junior golf program, including organizing clinics, camps, and PGA Jr. League activities.â ¢ Conduct club fitting and equipment analysis to help members improve their game with personalized equipment solutions.â ¢ Stay current with teaching methodologies, swing analysis technologies, and golf equipment advancements.Tournament Operations:â ¢ Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of member tournaments, outings, and special events.â ¢ Manage tournament software and ensure accurate scoring and event logistics.â ¢ Communicate effectively with the golf committee and members to ensure the smooth operation of club events.â ¢ Support the coordination of corporate and charity outings, ensuring they are delivered to a high standard.Golf Shop Operations:â ¢ Assist with the daily operations of the golf shop, including inventory management, sales, and merchandising.â ¢ Provide recommendations to members regarding equipment, apparel, and accessories, ensuring a personalized shopping experience.â ¢ Help with the buying process, maintaining stock levels, and merchandising displays.â ¢ Ensure the golf shop is well-organized and operates efficiently.Golf Course and Range Management:â ¢ Oversee the practice range, ensuring it is fully stocked and well-maintained at all times.â ¢ Monitor and enforce pace of play on the course, addressing any issues with members in a professional manner.â ¢ Coordinate with the outside operations team to ensure seamless service between the golf shop, bag room, and starter's area.Leadership and Mentorship:â ¢ Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude in all aspects of the role.â ¢ Assist in mentoring junior staff and interns, helping to cultivate a strong team environment.â ¢ Collaborate with other professionals on staff to continuously improve member services and golf operations.Administrative Duties:â ¢ Assist in the preparation and management of the golf operations budget, tracking expenses, and revenue.â ¢ Maintain accurate records for teaching, fittings, and tournament operations.â ¢ Communicate regularly with the Head Golf Professional, providing feedback and updates on golf operations. Qualifications: PGA Class A or Apprentice in good standing with the PGA of America.1-3 years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional, preferably at a high-end private club.Strong teaching background with proven success in player development programs.Familiarity with golf operations software (Jonas, ForeTees, or similar), tournament management software (Golf Genius), and launch monitor technology.Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with members.Knowledgeable about the latest in golf equipment, technology, and trends.A team player with a passion for growing the game and enhancing the member experience. Preferred Attributes: Experience working at a high-end private golf club or resort.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, high-demand environment.A desire for continuous professional development, both as a player and an instructor.
