The Jersey Shore BlueClaws are looking for an Assistant Groundskeeper for the 2025 Season. The position will report directly to the Director of Grounds and assist the Director of Grounds in various duties related to the playing field and entire property.The position is an hourly based position with overtime pay.Duties & Responsibilities:•Oversee and perform work on all common grounds of ShoreTown Ballpark on a weekly basis.•Performs gardening and grounds maintenance in caring for turf, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, and hard surfaces by using tools and power equipment.•Oversee a staff specific to property maintenance. This includes scheduling and job/task management for landscape staff.•Scheduling of Grounds Crew for games and day shifts to make sure we are always properly staffed to complete daily tasks as well as game tasks.•The Assistant Groundskeeper will work in conjunction with the Director of Grounds to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing professional baseball field.•Clay repairs - the infield skin, mounds and home plate, and the warning track.•Perform moisture management on infield skin.•Cultural practices - mowing, aeration, topdressing, verticutting, and fertilizing.•Assist in tarp pulls.•Assist in Supervision, scheduling, mentoring and training seasonal part-time game day staff.•Track grounds department inventory (fungicides, pesticides, fertilizers, etc.).•Must be able to endure extreme heat in the summer and cold winters.•Mow turf using both walk behind and riding mowers and fertilize turf, shrubs, ground cover, flowerbeds and trees.•Operate power equipment such as: rototiller, sod cutter, soil compactor, chain saw, verticutter, hedge trimmer, blowers, mower, tractor, edger, aerial lifts, chain saws, chippers, mini-excavators, skid loaders, hand mowers, rototillers, rollers, lawn sweepers, leaf blowers, and salt spreaders.•Cares for and maintains tools.Maintains and sharpens tools and makes minor repairs on equipment, as needed. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.•Safely operate team-owned vehicles and transport equipment.•Weed shrub, ground cover, and flowerbeds. Sweep, rake, remove leaves and trash, and clean drains and gutters. Prune and shape trees and shrubs for improved health. Edge and trim ground cover around buildings, walks, walls, shrubs, trees, and lamp poles.•Apply pesticides under the supervision of a licensed pest control operator.•Track weather patterns and assist in weather decisions regarding tarp pulls, game delays and cancellations, and special event delays and cancellations.•Ability to work weekends and overtime when required.Qualifications• Candidates must have the ability to do heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs.).•Candidates must have the ability to operate light machinery (RTV, ride lawn mower, etc.)•Candidates must have their own housing and transportation available to them.•Candidates must have one (1) year related experience in sports turf management, preferably baseball maintenance.We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.Job Questions:
