Assistant Head Coach
Job Title: Assistant Head Coach--JV Football Job Category: Coach Stipend $4,141.02 Department/Group: Athletic's Athletics Job Description Job Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the Head Coach with all assigned duties and coaching. The Assistant Coach, under the guidance of the Head coach, will provide direction to the student athletes so that they might achieve a higher level of skill, as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
* NYS SED Licensed Coach or Certified Teacher with CPR and First Aide Certification.
* Has the ability to organize and supervise a sports program.
* Has experience in assigned sport.
* The assistant coach should have knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
* The assistant coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
Primary Activities
* Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Yorktown Central School District's Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation.
* Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements same consistently and interprets them for staff.
* Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential durites of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duries may be assigned.
* Follows and maintains knowledge of all District Policy and procedures.
* Exhibits loyalty to the philosophy of the Head Coach.
* Assists instruction and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement.
* Assists in planning and setting up activities, practices and games.
* Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from games.
* Adheres to all financial policies of the District in regards to fundraising.
* Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
* Supervises students in locker rooms ensuring appropriate behavior.
* Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.
* Ensures that medical and safety requirements are followed.
* Interacts thoughtfylly and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
* Appropriately maintains and secures confidential student records and inquiries.
* Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with students, parents, community, staff and the media.
* Completes and maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required by NYS Public High School Athletic Association.
* Attends work regularly and is punctual.
* Attends in-service trainings, pre-season coaches and parent meetings.
