Salary: $49,158.00 - $86,026.00 Annually Location : Johnston County, NC Job Type: Permanent Full-Time Job Number: 24-13955 Department: Adult Correction Division: Operations Opening Date: 11/12/2024 Closing Date: 11/19/2024 5:00 PM Eastern Job Class Title: Assistant Judicial District Manager I Position Number: 60075575 Section: Community Supervision, Judicial Division 2 Work Location: Judicial District 11 Salary Grade: NC14 Description of Work The Assistant Judicial District Manager (AJDM) will supervise a part of the unit to include direct line supervision of CPPO's and clerical personnel. The AJDM will perform audits of CPPO's and conduct training of new CPPO's which includes but is not limited to assigning cases, coordinating workflow and schedules. The AJDM may work a reduced CPPO caseload and assist the Judicial District Manager in managing a judicial district. This position will assist with conducting internal investigations and will be involved with disciplinary, dispute and employee performance management. Incumbent may serve as lead interviewer for vacant positions and will be responsible for various reports to include but not limited to firearm inspections and inventory. The AJDM also will serve as a coach and mentor to staff within his/her purview. This position will ensure that each employee is proficient in areas necessary for job performance and that an environment conducive to professional growth and development is provided for all employees. The AJDM must hold staff accountable for workload and case management. The incumbent must have the ability to:
  • Target the offenders' needs to ensure quality supervision and appropriate swift and certain responses to noncompliance
  • Analyze a situation and provide an immediate solution
  • Develop professional alliances, establish and maintain effective working relationships with officers, offenders, judicial officials, law enforcement officers, community agencies, the general public, and co-workers

  • Establish an appropriate course of action to ensure completion of assigned duties within given time frames
  • Maintain a calm and rational composure when dealing with difficult situations and individuals and exhibit the ability to focus on the task at hand
There is frequent travel with occasional overnight stay. Incumbent must have the ability to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle for job related purposes and for long periods of time during both day and night hours and adverse weather conditions. Position is certified by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.   • Thorough knowledge of North Carolina offender supervision, available treatment services and community resources (private and public providers)
  • Thorough Knowledge in determining the appropriate levels of supervision for offenders, assessing and responding to the needs of offenders through counseling
  • Basic knowledge of subordinate staff positions and Department of Adult Correction and Community Supervision personnel policies and procedures, especially regarding performance (NC VIP), discipline, and various leave policies
  • Hands-on experience with criminogenic behavior, counseling, interviewing, recruitment, placement, employee retention and investigation techniques
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience as a Probation/Parole Officer, or Corrections Administrator in a technical or administrative capacity involved with the application and interpretation of policies and the development of procedures in assigned area and one year of experience as Chief Probation/Parole Officer, Corrections Supervisor, or Corrections Program Administrator in a consultative capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Bachelor's degree is a requirement. There is no equivalency for the four-year degree requirement based on N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
