Position Type: Athletics/Activities/CoachingDate Posted: 10/3/2024Location: Mary Miller Junior HighDate Available: 03/01/2025Closing Date: Until FilledDistrict: Georgetown-Ridge Farm Community Unit School District 4 - websiteDEFINITION Under general direction of the head coach, principal, or designee, assist in the planning, development, and implementation of the policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to an interscholastic sports program; to serve as a resource concerning physical education and physical activity instruction; to instruct and train sports activities groups in attaining proficiency in sport related functions; and to do other related functions as directed. REPORTS TO Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Building Administrator as appropriate ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with head coach to plan, organize, and coordinate the school site interscholastic sports program.
- Supervises students during practice, games, tournaments, and team travel.
- Collaborates with head coach to plans, organize, and coordinate sports activities and training workouts, and coaches individuals concerning specific physical performance activities and procedures.
- Provides teaching and instruction in athletic skill development
- Observes sport participants during practice and workout sessions to detect and correct errors in activity procedures and methods.
- Instructs, explains and enforces health and safety rules and regulations.
- Assesses the athletic team skills and opponents' capabilities and determines game strategies.
- Provides a variety of interscholastic sport activities, which requires the coordination of travel and equipment transporting of out-the-area games and activities.
- May participate or coordinate opponent scouting activities.
- Communicates with school and community stakeholders including media and press.
- Complies strictly with IESA/IHSA/NFHS rules and guidelines including but not limited to rules regarding sportsmanship, recruiting, and the safety of students at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Credential - Possession of all appropriate credentials in accordance with school code and relevant sports associations, professional educator license and valid Illinois drivers license preferred. Education - Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience - Any combination of experiences and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill for the position. Successful experience as an interscholastic coach preferred.
