Under supervision of the Laboratory Director assist and manage daily activities of the lab including recruitment of personnel and staffing, training of new staff and staff evaluations. Liase with clinical staff. Annual submission of data to SART registry. Monitor KPIs and lab quality system. Interface with the research and ancillary components of the IVF Program.
Job Responsibilities:
* Recruitment of new lab staff and lab support staff and is lead role in training entry level and junior staff and ongoing staff evaluations
* Assist with data compilation and annual submission to SART
* Assist with regulatory requirements including College of American Pathology (CAP)
* Development and maintenance of QMS in embryology lab
* Assist with daily management of lab procedures
* Assist with maintaining an accurate database for the documentation evaluation and communication of all cycle outcomes with physicians and SART/CDC regarding cycle starts, cancellations, completions and birth outcomes.
* Ensure timely reporting of data to all reporting bodies including SART/CDC and NYS with assistance from laboratory director and appropriate support staff
* Assist Laboratory Director and laboratory Supervisors in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relative to all clinical, research and security activities performed in the laboratories under the Director's management to ensure compliance with pertinent government and professional regulations, and to provide oversight in revising current operating procedures for all laboratories relative to clinical technology and IT advances.
* Assists with data management to ensure maintenance and monitoring of ad hoc quality control and assurance programs as it relates to the laboratory functions and outcomes. Assists laboratory director in compiling the data reported and discussed in end of series reviews.
* Available to assist Laboratory Director for all laboratory inspections by professional and governmental organizations should the Laboratory Director be unavailable.
* Involved in maintaining adequate records of licensures, maintenance records, policies and procedures, internal review board proposals, periodic reviews, and related issues as can be expected during such inspections.
Qualifications:
* BS in applied science discipline
* Minimum of 7- 10 years hands on experience in Embryology laboratory, preferably in a busy clinical environment of >2000 cycles of IVF, EF and DE Successful completion of all training and orientation programs including HIPAA and risk management.
* Demonstrates in-depth understanding of all clinical activities and personnel management in laboratories.
* Knowledge of healthcare administration, government regulations/SART CDC requirements, human resource management, operating policies and procedures including supervision and operation of equipment.
