CCSU's Elihu Burritt Library provides students with information and materials from over 100 databases and over 400,000 books and physical materials needed to complete assigned classwork and research. Position Profile
This position is responsible for providing information literacy instruction in both single-session classes and semester-long credit-bearing courses, conducting research consultations, and providing both in-person and virtual services at the research desk. Additional responsibilities include serving as library liaison for assigned subject areas/departments and special projects pertaining to instructional and research services that are assigned throughout the year to assist the work of the library director. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.
This 12-month tenure-track appointment is under the direction of the Library Director. The work schedule will include some evening and weekend hours. Library faculty are represented by the Connecticut State University Association of University Professors (AAUP). The collective bargaining agreement defines the process for renewal, promotion, and tenure, while also delineating support for professional development.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education:
All applicants must possess an advanced degree in Library Science or a closely related field from an accredited university.
Applicants who do not possess a Doctorate or terminal degree must additionally possess at least three (3) years of full-time service in a college or university at a rank of Staff Librarian or above with an additional full year of study above the master's level.
Experience and Training:
* Two (2) years of experience instructing information literacy in a college or university
* Academic library reference experience
* Demonstrated experience and knowledge of electronic and print information resources
* Must have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate a commitment to public service
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
* Demonstrated ability to effectively use instructional technologies, including generative AI resources and processes.
* Demonstrated experience with online learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, D2L Desire to Learn, Moodie, Canvas).
* Demonstrated experience providing concise information to undergraduate and graduate students in brief library instructions sessions covering a wide range of subject areas.
* Demonstrated experience teaching semester-long information literacy credit course.
* Demonstrated experience creating and implementing effective assessment tools to measure learning outcomes.
* Familiarity with screen recording and video editing software (e.g. Camtasia, Captivate).
* Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience within STEM fields or allied health sciences.
* Demonstrated experience with productivity software; Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Springshare Suite of products.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the Assistant Librarian for 2024-2025.
