Offers will be based on the skill, knowledge, and experience a job candidate brings to the job and is consistent with other employees performing the same or similar work.As an Assistant Manager, Airport Communications Center, you will supervise, lead, and oversee the day-to-day operations of a team of Senior Operations Controllers (SOC). You will serve as the primary communication liaison for airport operations, proactively leading and navigating communications between all levels of leadership.
- You will serve as a subject matter expert and provide leadership and management of day-to-day workflow, staffing, and scheduling to achieve targeted operational results.
- You will proactively demonstrate accountability and transparency for SOC, understanding and enforcing the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You will maintain situational awareness of Aviation Operations activities, airport wide, and coordinate activities with airport entities and other external stakeholders.
- You will assist in the design and implementation of training for all frontline employees, including onboarding/new hire training and recurrent training.
- You will assist in change management as new solutions emerge from third party vendors and various projects that impact front line user procedures and processes within the work group.
- You will maintain situational awareness and facilitate communication across multiple work groups to maintain continuity of operations.
- You will develop relationships with external stakeholders and solicit and incorporate feedback, buy-in, and expertise towards the Airport Communications Center programs and processes.
- You will strategically collaborate across the airport to ensure safe operations in compliance with federal, state, and Port regulations and policy.
Who you are:
- Experienced - You have three (3) years of airport operations experience at a commercial service airport, to include one (1) year of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
- Desired - We hope you have a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management and/or the following certifications/licenses: American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Certified Member (CM) or Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Communications, Security or Operations Certification.

What else you need to know:
- Driver's License - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
- Work Schedule - You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies and on-call to address any issues that could adversely impact Port operations.
- Work Environment - You will primarily work in an office environment.
- Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
