As an Assistant Manager, Airport Operations Certification, you will supervise the Airport Operations Specialist team and assist in the management of the FAR regulated Part 139 Airport Certification Program at SEA.
- You will supervise the Airfield Operations Specialists (AOS) and oversight of Airport Duty Managers (ADM) as it relates to the airport's certification, including daily performance of required practices by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the airfield and support with federal security requirements of the airfield and terminal.
- You will be responsible for addressing stakeholder complaints regarding airfield operations and resolve grievances and personnel disputes as they arise.
- You will serve as a subject matter expert in the FAR Part 139 Program and assist with maintaining the program for compliance-related issues.
- You will assist the Airport Certification Manager with the design and implementation of training for all front-line employees, including onboarding/new hire training and recurrent training.
- You will assist in change management and develop curriculum, ensuring seamless transition from project completion to day-to-day integration.
- You will support and coordinate special airfield-based programs and annual stakeholder meetings related to airport emergencies/continuity of operations and regulatory compliance including Winter Operations, Pre-Construction Coordination, Construction Inspection and Compliance, and Surface Movement Guidance Control Systems (SMGCS).
- You will schedule call-in personnel needed to support the airfield for the opening and closure of airfield facilities, runways, and taxiways.
- You will investigate airfield accidents/incidents and provide follow up to inquiries from stakeholders and the FAA.
- You will recommend policy and procedure changes to guidance and auditing regulatory requirements.
Who you are:
- Experienced - You have two (2) years of operations or maintenance experience at commercial service airports and two (2) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
- Desired - We hope you have a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, or have any of the following certifications/licenses: AAAE Certified Member, AAAE ACE Operations, or FAA Private Pilot License.

What else you need to know:
- Driver's License - You will need a valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
- Work Schedule - This position will normally work 5 days a week, but will support the 24/7 operation and must be available to work unconventional work weeks to include days, evenings, overnights, holidays, and any day of the week (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You will be required to work during emergencies and winter operations.
- Work Environment - You will primarily work in an office environment and outdoors on foot and driving a vehicle in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
- Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- Safety Requirements - You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
