Supervises a variety of technical, operational and customer service staff members including those who supervisor others. Develops and implements customer service and related technology initiatives. Assists Manager in daily operations and assumes responsibilities for day-to-day operations, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Leads staff and manages programs and initiatives to support the implementation of the mission and vision of Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS). Assists with strategic planning.
- Identifies problems, evaluates trends, and develops solutions, while managing the effective operations of the repair center, fulfillment and asset management systems.
- Provides continuous improvement recommendations, reviews of recommendations, and assists in the development of IT Operations initiatives, processes, projects, and strategic focus areas.
- Anticipates and plans for technology related needs based on data and job knowledge.
- Leads team meetings and technology initiative workgroups to collaborate, share, and monitor progress.
- Manages the support of technology used in schools and offices.
- Assists the Manager to develop and implement procedures to be used in the technical support of student's and staff's use of technology.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional associations.
- Assists the Manager in performing account management duties, including communicating with vendors and demonstrating a thorough understanding of budget and accounting responsibilities.
- Procures technology items and services to support office operations.
- Plans, assigns, coordinates, supervises, and reviews the work of Supervisors, Technicians and contractors as needed.
- Establishes and assists in the achievement of the goals for supervised team members.
- Leads and collaborates with the Manager and other team members to analyze, research, and report on performance metrics.
- Assists the Manager in providing reports and recommendations to the Director, IT Operations regarding asset management and logistics.
- Develops and facilitates collaborative relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Develops and facilitates collaborative relationships with other teams in IT Operations and the Department of Information Technology.
- Represents the IT Operations office at meetings and conferences as needed and/or in the absence of the Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college with an associate's degree. Two years of supervisory experience in a related technical support area. Five years of experience in technical support of computers, printers, software, networks, and related technology. Experience in a public-school environment preferred. Note: Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform the duties of the position may be considered. Licenses and Certificates: N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of providing technical support to a large, diverse computer network and its users. Thorough knowledge of personal computers, printers, network hardware, software, and operating systems. Knowledge of Microsoft applications and operating systems. Skill in communicating effectively. Skill in supervising customer service and resolving customer service issues. Skill in collaborating with clients. Skill in communicating complex, technical concepts to clients, non-technical staff, and others. Skill in providing training to staff and clients. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work of this class is generally performed in an office environment and requires the use of personal computers, printers, and related office equipment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Persons appointed to this classification are designated as Essential-As-Needed Personnel and are required to work when schools and/or offices are closed during adverse weather conditions or any other emergency when contacted and directed to do so. Persons appointed to this class may be required to work evenings, weekends, and beyond their normally scheduled hours with little or no advanced notice.
