We are hiring an Assistant Merchant to join our Merchandising team. As an Assistant Merchant, you'll support our Merchandise team in the curation of a product assortment that represents the tenets of our brand while increasing sales and achieving profit goals. As an Assistant Merchant, you will report to the Merchant for your assigned category. The role of the Assistant Merchant is to support the Merchant in all aspects of product procurement, launch, and maintenance.

About this opportunity:

  • Help manage vendor relationships acting as a primary contact for vendors and designers

  • Monitor the MillerKnoll Retail essential dates calendar to ensure all deadlines are met (sku build, product testing, photo sample arrival date)

  • Proof catalog, web, and ads for discrepancies in costing, and dimensions

  • Maintain and compile all necessary line list information and provide salient seasonal and ad hoc sku and style count updates for designated departments.

  • Order and track product samples and manage all sample needs with Marketing, Merchandising, and Public Relations teams.

  • Perform regular business analysis activities and provide actionable recommendations to optimize assortment performance

  • Manage and execute all retail promotions and markdown strategies and demonstrate an ability to function with agility across multiple organizational departments

  • Review product returns claims on vendor charge-back document

  • Organize communication between Vendor and Product Support team to resolve client concerns, gather product information, and procure supporting materials

  • Help with monthly or quarterly product training

  • Create sales reports for vendor meetings and internal reviews

  • Approve Finance costing discrepancies with Merchant approval

  • Research / manage special projects

Basic Qualifications

  • A passion for modern design

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Computer proficiency: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to use independent judgment

  • Detail oriented

  • Reliable and punctual

  • 1+ years experience in merchandising or planning within design or related industry
