Job Description:Fairfield University School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education /Director of School Counseling position in the Department of Counselor Education, beginning Fall, 2025. The Department offers two counseling tracks, School Counseling (SC) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) at the master's level, which are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
The Position: The successful candidate will typically teach 3+3 (with the potential for compensation for administrative duties), attend to duties related to directing the school counseling program, teach, supervise, and advise students, and participate in scholarship and professional service at the school, university, state, regional, and national levels. The Counselor Education program at Fairfield University is accredited as an on-ground program and all faculty in the SC and CMHC programs teach in-person.
Responsibilities- Serve as Director of the School Counseling Program;
- Facilitate placement of school counseling students for practicum and internship
- Engage in scholarship and peer-reviewed publications;
- Engage in faculty activity, including service and advocacy efforts, especially regarding school counseling at the state level;
- Advise school counseling students and administrative staff on school counseling certification specifics in the state of CT;
- Participate in the admissions process and work cooperatively with the Office of Admissions to ensure a high-quality and diverse student body, as well as recruitment strategies;
- Work with the marketing committee of SEHD to develop strategies for increasing school counseling program applicants;
- Perform other university and departmental duties as expected of all faculty, including serving on committees, attending faculty meetings, and engaging in community service.
Requirements: - Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP accredited program. ABDs with an established timeline to graduate by Fall 2025 will be considered;
- Experience teaching school counseling courses;
- School counseling and supervisory experience;
- Eligibility for certification as a school counselor in Connecticut;
- A commitment to excellence in graduate teaching
- Knowledge of CACREP standards and process. (See application requiements)
- Willingness to work collaboratively within a team
Preferred:- Licensed professional counselor or license-eligible in the state of Connecticut.
