Our approach to campus life ensures that students learn what they need to live life well, both professionally and personally.Mitchell College seeks to hire a teaching-centered leader to serve as Assistant or Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education, to begin in August 2025. The academic focus of this position will be Literacy or Special Education. The successful candidate will also take on the leadership of the Education program, which currently offers three education degrees: an Associate's degree and two Bachelor's degrees (with and without teacher certification). In exchange for one course release per semester, our new Early Childhood Education faculty member will assume responsibility for managing the program's various state and national accreditation processes. Responsibilities: Teach nine credit hours (three courses) per semester Serve as the faculty member responsible for guiding the program through CAEP accreditation and state approval processes Assist in supporting teacher candidates in all aspects of the edTPA Promote, participate in, and support co-and extra-curricular activities, including service learning and civic engagement Assist in building the schedule of Education classes each semester and hiring part-time Education faculty Participate in student recruitment and retention activities Conduct scholarship that sustains and enriches teaching Liaison with Mitchell's Children's Learning Center: Required Education and Experience: Doctorate in Education from an accredited institution Specialization in Literacy or Special Education Experience with state and/or national accreditation Demonstrated successful teaching at the college level Demonstrated successful teaching in an early childhood school setting Experience developing and revising curriculum Experience assessing student learning outcomes Preference for candidates who have experience in and passion for working with diverse learnersThe physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
