You'll work alongside talented colleagues dedicated to transforming Greensboro's park system, ensuring it remains accessible, sustainable, and welcoming for everyone.About the RoleThe Assistant Park Manager will assist in the daily operations and maintenance of Country Park and Price Park and oversee the development and implementation of programming and event strategies for both parks. This role includes:
- Coordinate and perform daily maintenance and assist with planning sustainable management of specialized park facilities at Country Park, including gardens, lakes, dog park, restrooms, playgrounds, trails and picnic shelters.
- Collaborating with local organizations to develop engaging events, such as the Battle of Guilford Courthouse Reenactment, Guilford Native American Pow Wow, and various 5k fundraising races and events.
- Providing exceptional customer service, managing fee collection, and enhancing public engagement.
- Coordinate and perform maintenance at Price Park to include project coordination, meadow management, trails maintenance and working with partners to provide events and programs.
- Supervision of full-time, part-time and seasonal staff, and contracted providers in the maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds and equipment to ensure a clean, safe and enjoyable environment.
- This position assists with budget development and implementation, training of park personnel, and overall park operations.
This position will also assume full management responsibilities in the absence of the Park Manager.This job is Non-Exempt and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). QualificationsWhat You BringMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience in support of public and private events and programs
- OR an Associate's Degree with 5-7 years of experience in support of public and private events and programs,
- OR a High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in support of public and private events and programs.
- Experience maintaining and operating various types of maintenance equipment
- Valid Driver's License.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and general office equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Parks and Recreation or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a Parks and Recreation role.
- Prior experience in facility maintenance and grounds maintenance.
- Experience with RecTrac or similar software.
- Current Pesticide License ( OR obtained within 1 year of hire date)
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
