Job Title: Assistant Production Manager
Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an Assistant Production Manager for a very reputable chemical company in SE Houston. The Assistant Production Manager will ensure all aspects of production are well organized and that short-term plans are executed per the production schedule. They will have a safety mindset and ensure operation procedures are up to date and followed. Supports training activities so that operators are qualified for their assigned tasks. This position reports to the Production Manager and the right candidate will be able to step in to fulfil requirements for the Production Manager when they are not available.
Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:
- Assist in planning and organizing day to day production activities through written instructions.
- Assist in supervising shift operations of assigned production units.
- Prepare and maintain production reports daily/weekly.
- Assist Production Manager and planner in planning RM activities.
- Ensure manufacturing procedures are followed, and quality standards are maintained.
- Support the learning coordinator to ensure production personnel are properly performing the tasks they are assigned.
- Maintain good attendance and work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks. Must be available for daily production tailgate meetings along with morning staff meetings.
- Track and optimize productivity and aide fine performance by using appropriate methods to achieve production goals.
- Maintain a safe work environment by making sure that all safety rules are followed.
- Assist in coordinating with Maintenance Department for any break down of plant equipment.
- Support the EHS Coordinator in compiling Hazardous Energy Plans.
- Monitor operations, set and implement corrective actions to prevent deviations.
- Assist Production Manager in creating batch sheets and labels for the production shifts.
- Be able to step in where Production Manager is not available.
- Experienced in a multi-shift production environment, especially in batch operations.
- Have good technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Additional Information:
- Chemistry knowledge preferred
- Years of Experience: 3-5 years of chemical industry with operations leadership experience
- Shift/Travel: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:30pm
- Compensation: DOE
