Assistant Professor - Accounting
**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**
The Department of Accounting in the School of Business at Lehman College, City University of New York is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Accounting,beginningFall 2025. Candidates must have an active record of research/scholarship/creative works, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Accounting,with emphasis on tax, such as Introduction to Federal Taxation, Taxation of Business Entities, Advanced taxation, Gift and Estate Tax, Advanced Auditing and/or SEC Financial Reporting,engage in research/scholarship and professional organization, advise and mentor students, provide service to the department, college, university, and community; i.e. program coordination, committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time tenure-track academic appointment. Evening, weekend and online teaching will also be expected.
The candidate will conduct research, publish in refereed journals, and present research findings annually at academic conferences; engage in service to the department, college, and university; and participate in any other tasks normally associated with a full-time academic appointment.
The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 18 hours per year for this position. For all faculty, service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. The Department of Accounting at Lehman College is part of the newly established School of Business. The school has three new departments-Accounting; Management and Business Innovation; and Finance, Information Systems, and Economics.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
A Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited institution (ABD candidates may be considered).or Master's degree in Accounting and CPA is required on commencement of the appointment. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Active involvement in professional organizations and sincere commitment to student are expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of academic research and scholarly activity for professorial rank. Experience in delivery of both on-campus and on-line classes. Work/industry experience in accounting.. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
