Scholarship, internship, and travel abroad opportunities are also available in our ongoing commitment to the development of a well-rounded future world citizen whose creative research recognizes both aesthetic issues and global awareness.Job Summary Reporting to the BFSDoArt Department Chair, the Assistant Professor position requires teaching experience in 3D Foundation studio art courses and Drawing 1. Department service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting chair and Foundations Director with the administration of the 3D Foundation courses, Foundations governance, and 3D curriculum development; working with the chair and dean to oversee 3D foundation course budgets, including development and implementation; helping in the development of a strategic plan for the Foundations program; assisting chair and Foundations director to coordinate, supervise and evaluate GA's and TA's within the department through class observations, review of student evaluations, and review of contributions to the department goals; working with the admissions department to recruit talented undergraduate students to Georgia Southern; and teaching in the graduate program as needed.Required Qualifications Earned MFA in Studio ART or a closely related art and design field by August 1, 20253 years as the Instructor of Record for 3D foundation courses including: 3D Design, 3D Digital Foundations, Drawing, and/or related studio Foundation art courses.Proficiency in traditional and digital fabrication tools and techniques, including 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC plasma cutting, and related software (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360, Blender, or other relevant programs).Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
