Fall 2025 marks an exciting opening for a visionary scholar in the Department of Sociology, Human Services, and Crime Studies at the State University of New York at Oneonta as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. The Department of Sociology, Human Services, and Crime Studies is home to majors in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Sociology offers concentrations in Aging Studies, Community Development and Planning, Criminology and Deviance, and Human Services. The Department is actively working to develop graduate programs. The thriving Department, whose twelve faculty members are highly collegial and engaged as teachers, scholars, and mentors, actively pursues the development of a dynamic learning environment for students. The Department is part of the School of Sciences, which consists of 10 academic departments and 2,300 students majoring in 20 programs.

Duties include but are not limited to:
* Teach courses in the Criminal Justice major and other courses to meet department needs.
* Conduct independent or collaborative research.
* Provide service to the department and university.
* Contribute to fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in curriculum, discipline, and on campus.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
* PhD in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or related discipline. ABD considered; official confirmation of degree conferral by issuing institution by start of employment.
* American Criminal Justice System Expertise.
Preferred:
* Expertise in one or more of the following:
* American Race Relations
* Inequality Expertise
* Green Criminology or Environmental Expertise
* Forensics Expertise
* Law Enforcement, Courts, or Corrections Expertise
* General Service Experience
* General Research Experience
* General Teaching Experience
* Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/ or multicultural teaching experience.
