*The Department of Psychiatry - Addiction Research & Treatment for the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) has an exciting opportunity for a Board Certified Physician* The Department of Psychiatry has a tripartite mission of Clinical, Education, and Research agendas, serving our surrounding community and the State of Maryland, and providing expertise at a national and international level. Our Education programs are dedicated to training the next generation of physicians, scientists, and psychologists through our nationally competitive programs. The Department houses top-tier competitively funded researchers, including those at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center. With over $43 million dollars of Federal grants and contacts, the Department is a leading clinical department within the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Through the integration of our basic science work with our T1 translational research, we are positioned to take advantage of new discoveries and developments in genetics, neuromodulation, neuroimaging, and molecular biology and chemistry. The selected candidate will perform duties that support the mission and vision of the department. The faculty member will support the UMMC Addiction Consultation Service providing consultation to individuals hospitalized at UMMC (University of Maryland Medical Center) with co-morbid substance use disorders. The faculty member will provide clinical supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. The faculty member will serve as a consultant on the Maryland Addiction Consultation Service providing direct clinical care to individuals in mobile and jail telehealth programs. The faculty member will work with the Research Initiative in Infectious Disease and Substance Use with the Institute of Human Virology, expanding clinical research in addictions with emphasis on protocols related to stimulant use disorder. Candidates must be board certified/eligible psychiatry or internal medicine unrestricted license in the State of Maryland. This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.
