The Bachelor of Social Work program at Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks an Assistant Professor and Field Coordinator to teach and manage student field placements at the undergraduate level in the BSW online and on-campus programs. This is an in-person position. Duties include:
Teaching and Field Placement CoordinationTeaching will comprise 15 credit hours (at least 12 credits/2 courses must be on-campus; 3 credits can be online); Advise BSW students.Field placement coordination will comprise 25% of the role and teaching will comprise 75% ofthe role.Field Placement Work: Develop and maintain community relationships to create internships for social work studentsMeet with current agency representatives and secure affiliation agreements as needed;Confirm what type of internships the agency can provide (one semester or one year);Meet with new agencies and establish new internships;Work with students to secure community-based internships within the required timeframe.Visit agencies while students are placed in internship to review their progress.Ensure alignment between Student Field Handbook and host organization intern policies and expectations.Communicate with supervisor at host agency. Address concerns and questions related to student performance at internship and coordinate with students' advisors as needed.Curriculum and Course preparationDevelop courses as needed;Update, repair, and/or revise online courses as needed;Assist with developing and offering CEUs;Work with Director to engage in outreach to enhance enrollmentsProvide service to the major, the department, and the college. Minimum expectations includeAssist the Director in the preparation of accreditation reaffirmation documents;Assist the Director in the collection of program outcomes and other relevant data (as needed) in the online and on-campus programs;Keep student and field supervisor handbooks updated;Represent Social Work program on faculty committees as needed;Chair advisory council;Advise social work society or Phi Alpha Honor society;Attend faculty senate and department meetings as scheduled.Engage in research and scholarship in areas of expertiseMinimum requirements:Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCW) with an MSW from a CSWE accredited school; 5 years post graduate experience;Familiarity with the landscape of Maine and New England social work practiceStrong community networking and organizational skillsStrong verbal and written communication;Strong desire to work as a team;Solid computer skills including social media, Excel and Learning Management Systems such as Brightspace, Blackboard, CanvasTeaching experience with willingness to share recent professional examples;Collegial and hard working;Valid Driver's License.About Saint Joseph's College of MaineApplicants must be willing to support the mission and core values of Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
