The Information Security program at Shawnee is a program experiencing tremendous growth. The program is located within in the Department of Engineering Technologies which will be located in the newly formed College of Business and Engineering Technology. The Department of Engineering Technologies contains nationally ranked programs in Plastics Engineering Technology and Digital Simulation and Gaming as well as computing-related Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Engineering Technology, Information Security, and Computer Science. Duties of the position include:
- Instructing undergraduate courses in information security including application of theory.
- Participating in curriculum and program enhancement
- Contributing to National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE) and ABET accreditation efforts, including incorporation of programmatic outcomes assessments and corresponding improvements into curriculum.
- Staying current with industry trends and refining curriculum to maintain/improve alignment with industry needs
- Engaging with students in and out of the classroom in co-curricular activities. Opportunities include:
- Representing SSU with industry partners and organizations
- Advising and mentoring students applying for jobs/internships
- Mentoring student club(s)
- Engaging with prospective students
- Engaging in professional development and scholarly activities such as:
- Taking courses and attending conferences and workshops
- Undertaking inter-disciplinary research and projects with fellow SSU faculty

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline and five years professional experience in the security field or three years full-time post-secondary teaching experience at a regionally accredited institution in Information Security OR doctorate or other terminal degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience, skills, and competence to teach with emphasis on labs and lecture courses consistent with needs of business and industry
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in the English language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in supporting accreditation for undergraduate programs
- Industry recognized certifications such as Security +, network +, Could +. Ethical hacking, and CCNA highly desirable.
