Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.Position DetailsThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track position in Inorganic Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will join the 31 faculty and staff currently residing in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry housed within the College of Natural and Health Sciences.Responsibilities will include teaching and research within the field of inorganic chemistry and teaching other chemistry courses as assigned by the department (e.g., General Chemistry lecture and/or lab). Opportunities to develop new courses related to the successful candidate's area of expertise are also anticipated. Shared instrumentation within the Department available to faculty members includes a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a cold probe, ICP-OES instrument, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, FTIR spectrometers, microwave reactor, preparative HPLC system, LC-MS/MS (low-resolution MS), LC-MS/MS (Orbitrap MS), GC-MS, and GC-FID instruments. Modest startup funding and internal grant programs are available for supporting research activities.Candidates are expected to have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring undergraduate students in research, scholarly activity, and service within the environment of a primarily undergraduate institution. A typical teaching load is 12 contact hours through a 14-week semester.Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry or closely related discipline.
