The Department of Computer Science at The University of Akron seeks applications for non-tenure-track Assistant Professor positions starting in Fall 2025. Applicants are sought in all areas related to computer information systems.Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the start of employment. The successful candidate will develop and teach introductory and upper-level courses in Information Systems such as Database Management, System Design and Development and Data Mining. The ideal candidate will also develop and teach introductory courses in entry-level programming (Python, C family of languages, Visual Basic and R). The selected candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate projects, work collaboratively across campus, and contribute to professional, departmental, college, and university service activities. Moreover, they may develop a research program to conduct independent and interdisciplinary research.The University of Akron's Department of Computer Science offers programs in Computer Science and Information Systems. Undergraduate majors offered include Computer Science and Computer Information Systems with specialties in cybersecurity, networking, and software development. At the graduate level, we provide a comprehensive Master of Science degree, specifically in Computer Science. We also participate in the Integrated Bioscience Ph.D. program at the University. Currently, the Department has 11 full-time faculty members, 8 tenure track, and 3 non-tenure tracks.
