Assistant Professor - MathematicsFACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTThe Science and Mathematics Department at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College, City University of New York, seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mathematics. This Assistant Professor position will begin in fall 2025.Full-time faculty are required to teach a 24-hour course load across Guttman's two 12-week Fall and Spring semesters and a 6-week Fall II intersession. Faculty are expected to teach in person, but they may also have opportunities to teach online or in a hybrid format. Faculty on tenure-track appointments receive reassigned time to pursue scholarship. A record of scholarly production, whether in the faculty member's disciplinary field or in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, is required for tenure and promotion.General responsibilities of all full-time Guttman faculty include teaching courses in the First-Year Experience, as well as teaching courses in the majors and advising students. For this position, the successful candidate will teach Statistics and College Algebra in the College's first-year core curriculum, as well as teach courses in Mathematics beyond the first-year curriculum.QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or Statistics Education, Applied Mathematics, Developmental Mathematics, or a related field (awarded by start of fall, 2025-2026 academic year) and at least one year of successful teaching experience in a college setting (full-time or part-time) required.
