Job Title: Assistant Professor of Communication and Assistant Director of Forensics

Department: Communication

Reports To: Department Chair

Summary Description:

Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Forensics will travel with the Forensics Team on average to five collegiate forensics events per semester, help coach students in debate and individual events, work with the Director of Forensics to arrange and facilitate team travel plans, teach a 3/3 load in the areas of speech, interpersonal communication, debate, strategic communication, communication law or related subject matter. Committee service will also be expected.

Essential Functions:

* To plan and deliver lectures, develop course assignments, and grade student work

* Advise and mentor students

* Support the University through participation on committees and attendance torequired events

* Conduct appropriate level of research and/or attend conferences to stay current in field of expertise

* Lead the Forensics Team to compete at regional and national levels

Education: Ph.D. in Communication preferred, but will consider experience in lieu of doctorate or terminal degree.

Experience: Must have experience in leading a competitive Forensics team and, preferably teaching experience at the collegiate level.

Required Skills: The candidate for this position should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, possess strong teaching abilities, and have a passion for educating students. The candidate should also have experience in speech and debate and show examples of leading Forensics Teams at the collegiate level and experience with building and maintaining professional relationships within the academic and forensic communities. The candidate should also possess the ability to develop and update curriculum in the field of communication and be proficient in using technology for teaching, research, and communication. Technologies include multimedia tools, online learning platforms, and communication technologies relevant to the field.
