Lycoming College invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Criminal Justice-Criminology at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2025. The Department of Criminal Justice-Criminology has approximately 100 majors and minors and seeks to provide students with strong foundational knowledge to prepare them for careers in the field, while also encouraging students to consider a range of perspectives in understanding crime and criminal behavior. Students are given the skills to think critically and use evidence-based research when seeking to address issues the system faces. The department has strong connections with local, county and federal criminal justice agencies in the area and so significant opportunities and support exists for research, volunteer and community-based learning experiences for faculty and students. Successful candidates must have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, inclusive excellence and a dedication to the value of a liberal arts education. Candidates will have the opportunity to shape and influence the curriculum and types of opportunities offered to students. While all areas of specialization will be considered for hire, specific expertise in security studies is prioritized for one of the positions as the College seeks to expand its curriculum to incorporate this area of study. Candidates will have the opportunity to teach courses in their specialty within their 3/3 teaching load. Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to teach courses core to the curriculum, specifically research methods and a senior capstone course.
