Title:Assistant Professor of EducationConcentration: LiteracyDivision: Provost's OfficeDepartment: Pott College of Science, Engineering, & EducationEEO Job Group:2 C5Position SummaryThe Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana invites applicationsfor a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education with a focus in Literacy/Reading to begin August 2025.Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe faculty member is expected to teach literacy using the science of reading approach for undergraduate education majors, teach graduate courses for in-service teachers, advise students, serve on dissertation committees, engage in service-related activities including participation in departmental, college, and university committees and professional organizations; and initiate research and grant activities leading to scholarly presentations and publications.The faculty member will have the potential to develop a research agenda that leads to scholarly works and the engagement of students. Start-up funds and other financial support are available to initiate a productive research effort.Although some courses are taught in distance education formats, applicants should expect an on-campus presence throughout their employment term.Required Knowledge and SkillsA Doctorate in Education with a focus on literacy or a closely related field is required along with a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a P-6 classroom setting. Doctoral candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment.
