Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Professor of Exercise Science. This position offers excellent opportunities for collaboration with educational partners, healthcare agencies, and the college's athletics program. The anticipated start date is the Spring 2025 semester.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develops and implements the Exercise Science curriculum in alignment with academic standards and institutional goals.
* Provides instruction for a range of undergraduate courses in the Exercise Science program, including Physiology of Exercise, Biomechanics, Motor Development, and Research Methods.
* Collaborates with the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to achieve and maintain relevant program accreditations.
* Promotes and facilitates opportunities for undergraduate student research and academic involvement.
* Advises students on academic progress, career paths, and practicum experiences.
* Coordinates practicum placements and ensures experiential learning opportunities are aligned with program outcomes.
* Engages in service to the college through committee work and community partnerships.
* Collaborates with the Admissions department to establish and execute recruitment strategies for prospective Exercise Science students.
* Fosters a diverse and inclusive academic environment, engaging with students, faculty, and leadership from various backgrounds.
* Participates in continued professional development in the field of Exercise Science.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES:
* PhD in Exercise Science or a closely related field by January 2025.
* ABD candidates for the terminal degree may be considered, depending on the anticipated completion date.
* Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship in a liberal arts college environment.
* Active involvement in professional organizations related to Exercise Science.
* College-level teaching experience preferred.
* Ability to engage undergraduate students in research and experiential learning opportunities is strongly preferred.
