There is no geographical priority or methodological requirement. We seek candidates who specialize in the intersections of religion and environmental justice, feminist ecologies, ecologies of care, climate change, biocultural diversity, conservation, land use, or another subfield of critical sustainability studies, to begin Fall 2025. Proficiency in pertinent language/s is expected. The successful candidate will possess a clear research agenda evidenced by a history of or potential for significant scholarly contribution and public engagements in relevant venues. They will also be able to teach two particular courses- Judaism and Nature, Spirituality, Ecology -and they will have the requisite expertise to develop other classes related to the Study of Religion. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. Applicants must hold a PhD in the Study of Religion or a related field by the time of appointment.The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $85k-$89k. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
