The successful candidate will teach classes within our performance curriculum which include Fundamentals of Voice and Movement, Movement Dynamics I & II, Stage Combat, and other courses in movement, acting and/or directing depending upon personal specialization and curricular needs. Expertise in a mixture of movement disciplines (e.g., Alexander Technique, Laban, Feldenkrais, Chekhov, Yoga, or Pilates) and stage combat are expected, and the ability to teach acting and directing period styles, including Shakespeare, are desired. Training and expertise in additional movement disciplines (e.g. mask, clowning) and intimacy design/choreography will be viewed favorably. The successful candidate will also be expected to direct departmental productions as part of the regular season; advise and mentor students within our BFA Acting program; and fulfill additional assignments to meet departmental needs. As part of a normal workload, the candidate may be asked to teach online courses. All faculty members are expected to be active in BFA and MFA recruitment, service to the field and institution, and to be active in research/creative scholarship. Excellence in teaching and research/creative endeavors will be expected.Qualifications: MFA or PhD in Theatre with movement emphasis or MFA in Dance with extensive theatre movement background. A faculty of ten serve eighty-five theatre majors in a program that offers the BFA and MFA degrees with a specialization in design/technology and emphases in scene design, lighting/ sound design, costume design, and technical theatre.
