Springfield College invites applications for Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. This is a full-time nine-month program-track faculty appointment, ideally beginning in January 2024. The Occupational Therapy Department offers a five-year combined baccalaureate and master's program, an entry-level master's degree program, and an entry-level OTD program offered in conjunction with the MSOT. The OT program has been accredited by ACOTE since 1991, and currently has 8 full-time faculty. The mission of the Occupational Therapy Department is to prepare professionals for leadership in the use of human occupation to promote people's participation in meaningful life roles and activities.

The School of Health Sciences includes programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Emergency Medical Services, Gerontology, Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Public Health. Interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, engaged student learning, as well as global, intergenerational, and multicultural perspectives are priorities of the School. Responsibilities

The new hire will have primary responsibilities in teaching and advising, scholarship, and service to the College, community, and profession. The teaching requirement entails a load of 24 credits per year.

Primary courses may include coordination of the adolescent content lecture/lab course, OT management, OT in Community Practice, US and Global Health Care, and seminar/service learning courses.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, an earned doctoral degree, initial certification as an occupational therapist, and eligibility for OT licensure in Massachusetts. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Teaching experience in higher education, evidence of commitment to scholarship, ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, technology skills to support teaching and scholarship, a background in relevant clinical practice, and experience designing and coordinating doctoral capstone experiences are preferred.
